The animals, which are dominated by artificial intelligence, behave similarly to their real-life counterparts. For example, wolves adopt a herd mindset. Each type has its own requirements and needs that players must meet. Each animal has its own genome, which can be modified to change life expectancy, size, health, and fertility. The animal exhibits can be modified and created by the player to make the environment and climate in the gallery more liking the animals, increase their happiness and satisfy their needs. The game also features a breeding system, and elements like inbreeding have negative consequences for animals. The game also features a campaign mode, similar to Planet Coaster. Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (2GB) / AMD Radeon R9 270X (2GB).Additional Notes: Minimum specifications may change during development.Processor: Intel i7-4770k / AMD Ryzen 5 1600.Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB).If you like the game buy it to support the developers.Planet Zoo 1.Some people are coming to this review looking for one thing, so I’ll just say it upfront: Planet Zoo is most certainly the modern spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon that you have been waiting for since childhood. Not only does it recapture the creative, ambitious joy of building and maintaining your own zoo, but it implements a plethora of modern systems and fantastic graphics to produce one of the most fun and engaging management sims that I’ve played in the last few years. If ever there was a developer capable of revitalising the zoo management subgenre, it’s Frontier Developments. The studio blew us away with their spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon in 2016 with Planet Coaster, and ever since then many fans (myself included) had been hoping the developer would attempt to work their magic on a similar revitalisation of the classic Zoo Tycoon series. Much like Planet Coaster before it, Planet Zoo offers a variety of game modes for you to flex your creative-management muscles. ![]() If you simply want to design a gorgeous zoo to immerse yourself in without the hassle of balancing a budget or maintaining the welfare of your animal residents, the astonishingly impressive creation tools in Sandbox Mode allow you to do so with relative ease. The creation engine allows you to quickly and easily terraform the land and create impressive-looking structures that can be customised down to the most minute detail. Fences, paths, plants and all manner of park features can also be placed and adjusted quickly with the implementation of some clever snapping mechanics that result in more natural-looking features. You can also take your zoo online in Franchise Mode where you can connect with other players to trade animals and visit a friend’s park. There’s also a welcome offline mode with the full economy enabled, and a sandbox mode that gives you unlimited money, which is great if you want to terraform your perfect landscape as a starting point before opening a zoo there. If you’re more interested in the challenge of building, managing and expanding your own sprawling zoo, the Career Mode offers a huge variety of fun, customised scenarios that will teach you everything you need to get ready for the role. ![]() Franchise Mode is where I spent most of my time, in which you can build a multi-zoo franchise online and your Conservation Credits conveniently carry over from one to another and you can trade animals with other players. Menagerie of ModesĪside from a story mode with charming voice acting that does a decent job of teaching you important mechanics little by little, Planet Zoo has all the modes I’d expect. There’s no way to acquire grants or anything for having a good conservation program, so investing entirely into these expensive animals will still mean you have to make cuts to staff and sell a bunch of hats like a ruthless capitalist or your important environmental work will get shut down. My only disappointment with this system is that Conservation Credits can’t keep the lights on. Doing so can also earn you Conservation Credits, which are sometimes the only way to acquire particularly rare specimens. ![]() This score gives your zoo a bonus to popularity and guest happiness for housing and breeding endangered species, releasing good specimens back into the wild, and putting up informational displays and audio speakers to educate your guests. My favorite new feature is the Conservation Rating. On the economic side, Planet Zoo has a well-balanced set of income sources and expenses to consider.
